I.          APPOINTMENTS
             DEPARTMENTS:
University Multimedia Centre (UMC)  - Mrs. B.O. AMOO, Acting Director, with effect from Monday, 16th April, 2007, for one year       

Broadcasting, Cinematography and Communication Technology - Dr. J.O. Akin SOFOLUWE, Acting Head, with effect from Monday, 23rd April, 2007, till further notice.
                                                                                                           
Journalism, Book Publishing & Photo Journalism - Dr. B.T ISIAKA, Acting Head, with effect from Monday, 23rd April, 2007, till further notice.                                                             

Philosophy - Professor Abdul-Ghaniyi A. BELLO, Head, with effect from Wednesday, 25th April 2007, till further notice.

Postgraduate School - Professor O .J. Fapohunda, Acting Dean, with effect from Monday, 21st May, 2007, till further notice.

 II.   CHANGE OF NAMES:
      Senate at its meeting also approved the change of name of the Department of Morbid Anatomy to Department of Pathology and Forensic Medicine.

III.       HONOUR & DISTINCTION

(a)  Professor Amidu SANNI of the Department of Foreign Languages, Faculty of Arts, has    been appointed first African guest editor for a special volume on Africa, in respect of the University’s prestigious journal “Studies in Contemporary Islam”, for his immense contributions towards the development of Islamic studies in Africa by the Youngstown State University, Youngstown, Ohio, United States of America.        

(b) In another development, Professor Amidu SANNI, has been nominated, member,   International Advisory Council by the Institute of Peace and Development in Belgium, on his positive support towards education.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Lateef Akanni Hussain,  congratulates Professor Sanni on the well deserved honour and stated inter alia “I hope the position will afford Professor Sanni, the opportunity to assist in the promotion of Peace Initiatives, Human Rights, Inter-faith Harmony, Socio-Economic development, Education and Peaceful Religious co-existence in Belgium and Pakistan”.
