Courtesy Call:
The Deputy Secretary – General, Association of Commonwealth Universities, Dr. John Kirkland on Wednesday, 28th March, 2007, paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Lateef Akanni Hussain, in his office.

Dr. Kirkland in his remark stated that, though he had come to discuss some administrative events and issues with the University Registrar, Mr. Oluwatoyin Oshun, all the same, he deemed it fit to pay a courtesy visit on the Vice Chancellor of the University.

In his words he said “…I was pleased to be in the University once again to discuss Universities Administrative issues and events, and to share from wealth of experience of the University’s Registrar, Mr. Oluwatoyin Oshun ” He reiterated further that a plank that he picked up in the Registrar’s Office having an inscription of “PUNCTUALITY IS THE SOLE OF BUSINESS” had really gone a long way in putting a check on some members of his staff who were in the habit of coming late to work. He said that the information therein had really played a tremendous role in his life and work.  He later thanked the University Management for the hospitality.

Responding, the Vice-Chancellor expressed great delight at meeting Dr. Kirkland once again and thanked him for the visit.
In attendance were the Registrar, Mr. Oluwatoyin Oshun, Bursar, Mrs. O.A. Awoliyi, University Librarian, Dr. (Mrs) A.O. Idowu and Senior Assistant Registrar Information and Public Relations, M.A.I. Oyeniji (Mrs).

ASUTON-LASU: A FULL FLEDGED TRADE UNION

Members of the Association of University Technologists of Nigeria (ASUTON) LASU branch have written to sensitize the University Community on the existence of ASUTON as a trade union amongst the existing notable trade unions within the University system nationwide.

In a letter signed by the Chairman, Miss. T.A. Adegoroye and the Secretary, Mr. A.A. Sanni, the union thanked the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Lateef Akanni Hussain, for the recognition accorded ASUTON as a union. ASUTON has for many years had the check off dues of their members deducted by the Bursary. The Chairman finally appealed to the university community to please accord ASUTON-LASU its due rights and recognition as accorded other unions.

The letter stressed that members of ASUTON are located within Faculty of Science, Ojo, Faculty of Engineering, Technology and Environmental Sciences (FETES), Epe and College of Medicine (LASUCOM), Ikeja.
