PROBE PANEL ON THE ADMISSION OF STUDENTS THROUGH DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES BY DIRECT ENTRY INTO PART TIME DEGREE PROGRAMMES
At its meeting on Tuesday, 03 April, 2007, the Management Committee considered various correspondences on the admission of students through the Diploma Programmes by direct entry into Part-Time Degree Programmes of the University. One of the memos stated inter alia “The majority of the students are yet to obtain the Diploma Certificate, do not have admission letters, are yet to properly register for courses but are already in 300 and 400 levels”.
Management, therefore, decided to set up a Probe Panel comprising:
- Prof. Timothy Bamiduro - Faculty of Science - Chairman
- Dr. H.A. Ekiyor - Faculty of Social Sciences - Member
- Dr. Olatunji Oladapo - Faculty of Science - Member
- Mrs. G. I. Adejumo - D. R.(General Admin) - Secretary
The terms of reference of the Panel are as follows:
- to find out the circumstances surrounding the admission of students through the Diploma Programmes by direct entry into Part-Time Degree Programmes of the University;
- to establish whether the admission of these diploma students was in accordance with the established admission procedure of the University;
- to ascertain the number of diploma students involved in the irregular admission exercise(s);
- to determine the officers and staff of the University involved in the irregular admission exercise(s);
- to proffer solutions to the irregular admission and
- to recommend ways and means to prevent a recurrence in the future
The Probe Panel should complete its assignment within four weeks, from the date of this bulletin, and submit its report and recommendations to the Vice Chancellor, latest, by Monday, 7 May, 2007.
SENATE APPROVAL FOR REVISED ACADEMIC CALENDAR FOR THE RAIN SEMESTER OF THE 2005/2006 ACADEMIC SESSION: ENJOYMENT OF ANNUAL LEAVE BY ACADEMIC STAFF
At its 154th Statutory Meeting held on Thursday 29th March 2007, Senate considered and approved the revision of the Academic Calendar for the Rain Semester of the 2005/2006 academic session.
The revised calendar provides for eight weeks of vacation from Monday 7th May, to Friday 29th June, 2007.
Senate enjoined all academic staff to ensure that they utilize their annual leave entitlements during this vacation period. In this connection, the Bursary Department has been requested to pay the leave allowances of all academic staff against this vacation period. The above directive of Senate is hereby communicated to all academic staff.

Senate noted the peculiarities in the College of Medicine and the School of Communication and agreed that they should adjust their calendars to suit their needs.
